The Shakers were a people with many
practical solutions to storage. Among the simplest of these was the
pegboard which they would often times place along the entire perimeter
of a room.
Pegboards
would be
used for hats, coats and other articles of clothing, but also to hang
clocks,
cleaning implements, and even chairs.
Today, the
same or
similar style of pegboard can be placed in a home to give a country
cottage feel, with the added elegance of solid hardwood.
Gerrybuilt
pegboards are made of solid cherry or maple. Currently, there are two
styles, Traditional and Contemporary. All pegboards come with with
brass screws and are predrilled with holes 16 inches apart to
facilitate mounting.
